Daily Activity “Anchors”
Every parent brings their own definition of "routine" into the home, and it is up to your unique family to decide what helps you move through the day smoothly. Maybe you are clinging to a strict schedule just to survive, or maybe you feel completely lost in the everyday chaos with no idea where to start. Kids aren't born with a burning desire for structure. However, a gentle level of predictability makes them feel supported, cared for, and safe. So, how do we provide that essential stability without killing the magic of free play and natural learning?
Over the years, our family found the answer by defining what we call “anchors.” What exactly is an anchor?
“An anchor in the home is a soothing, low-pressure ritual that grounds your family's day without using a strict clock or a timer. It relies entirely on a gentle, repetitive sequence rather than a rigid schedule. This predictability gives everyone a sense of peace and security, while keeping the atmosphere calm and flexible.”
Anchors can revitalize a home and help stabilize us in the midst of the busyness. Need help figuring out your anchors? Below you will find a list of daily activity anchors to help get you started! Click here for the FREE downloadable PDF.
